Pieces Of A Forest
Remembering
A collaboration between artists from The Emily Carr University Of Art And Design in Vancouver, The David Suzuki Foundation, and artists from Deer Crossing The Art Farm in the small seaside village of Gibsons on the Sunshine Coast, Pieces of A Forest was a one-of-a-kind immersive art experience inspired by forests in our towns.
Visitors to the 2 exhibitions could explore the "trails" of this virtual urban forest, encountering multimedia installations (incorporating fibre arts, woodworking, sculpture, earth art, sound and projections) and interactive presentations that brought to life the hidden pieces of a forest ecosystem and their ecological, economic and cultural values.
We met on the unceded territory of the Musqueam (xʷməθkʷəy̓əm), Squamish (Skwxwú7mesh Úxwumixw), and Tsleil-Waututh First Nations.
The short film I created for Pieces Of A Forest focused on the Tree Canopy and was filmed in Pacific Spirit Regional Park in Vancouver,the town of Gibsons, and Howe Sound, B.C.
